Enabling everybody to make use of data shouldn’t require a computer science degree. Rather than starting with learning how to write code, visual or low-code environments allow to focus on modeling the data flow itself. This massively reduces the barrier to entry and enables newbies to solve real world problems from day #2. It also allows them to gradually enhance their data science skills and use increasingly sophisticated methods within that same environment. In this talk I will use the KNIME visual workflow environment to illustrate how a properly designed low code environment allows to quickly get started but also allows learning and accessing increasingly complex data science methods, including deep learning and other AI techniques
