Nanoparticle Arrays
Nanoparticles can be assembled at the air-water interface using a Langmuir trough. In this technique, the nanoparticles are dispersed on the water surface. Compression of the floating nanoparticles in a dense film is accomplished by barrier motion. The nanoparticle films can then be transferred onto a solid substrate by vertical (Langmuir-Blodgett technique) or horizontal lifting (Langmuir-Schaefer technique) and studied by electron microscopy.
